Morné le Roux aka Chief Cheerleader
Morné completed his 5-year articles of clerkship at an auditing and accounting firm based in Cape Town. Finally as the Senior Manager, his seven year tenure came to an end when he was offered the opportunity to join Swartland Winery as the Financial Accountant in 2002. Within a year he was promoted to Financial Manager and in 2011 to Head Chief.
Madelein Coetzee aka Logistics Accounts Guru
Madelein commenced her role as Export Co-ordinator in 2008 and during 2014 she was reappointed in the position local and international Stock Controller. In 2017 she was handed back the responsibility of Export Co-ordinator and today as Key Account Manager she ensures our valued clients’ needs are fulfilled throughout the supply-chain network.
Robert Mackinlay aka Sales Guy
Rob started working with Swartland in 2012 and has been a major driving force in creating Swartland’s new brand image. He is based in our export office in Bordeaux, France, closer to our main export markets. Rob’s business acumen and knowledge of international wine has helped us grow our global footprint; he is always on the move promoting Swartland wines around the world.
Annaline da Fontes aka Chief Problem Solver
Annaline started her tenure with Swartland Winery as Export Co-ordinator in 2007. During 2009 she joined the bean-counters as the Financial Creditor from where she diverged into Purchasing. Today Annaline is our skillful Operations Manager, responsible for the operational functions that include handling of filled products, dry stock purchases, scheduling and co-ordinating all external bottling clients.
Gerda Eygelaar aka Mulitasking Wizard
Gerda joined Swartland Winery in 2001 as Laboratory Manager and was promoted to Quality Manager at the end of 2009. Her expertise and background in medical technology ensures that Swartland Winery conforms to all International Food Safety, Quality & Ethical standards. She is in charge of the routine and bottling quality control laboratories and liaises with all customer satisfaction queries.
Stiaan Swatton aka Bottling Ninjaneer
Stiaan came on board as Bottling Co-ordinator in 2008 and today head of the entire bottling facility. He is responsible for the productivity, staffing, leadership, continuous improvement and overall success of Swartland’s bottling operation both bottle and Bag-in-Box.
Christo Koch aka Wine Genius
Christo joined Swartland Winery 35 years ago and will be stepping down to retire at the end of 2018. Lifetime dedication along with his extensive wine making and bottling expertise has presented the opportunity to have him around a little longer as Chief Consultant of Wine.
Margot Kemp aka People / Culture Systems & Process Guru
Margot commenced her role at Swartland Winery in 1999. She is responsible for the effective implementation of staff duties to comply with best practice and legal requirements. She is an essential part of Swartland’s culture and her people person demeanour allowed her to create a safe and pleasant work environment for all personnel over the years.
Marius Prins aka Wine Prince
Marius commenced his new role as winemaker at Swartland during 2018. He has extensive wine making (and tasting) experience in various wine regions including Stellenbosch, Breedekloof Wine Valley and Tulbagh. The values instilled in him by his family included a strong work ethic and a genuine appreciation for the natural environment that surrounded him. He is particularly intrigued by the transformation from grape to wine and finally to share his creation with all wine enthusiasts.
Lize-Marié Nieman aka Brand Warrior
Lize-Marié joined the Swartland team in the second half of 2018. Her journey into the world of wine started while studying at Stellenbosch University and fast developed a taste for fine wines. Her career took off and she gained extensive experience in wine marketing and sales. She believes that the corner stones of success in the wine business are strong customer relationships, a solid business understanding of the industry and trade channels and a persistent desire to continue learning and improving.
